I am good. So this is probably this is the first interview where I actually saw the band perform first. And you guys are great.

Now you guys are very young. Yeah. Um, the oldest member of the band is like 20, and the youngest is 18. So they're very young, still starting out. How long? How long have you guys been a band?

Let's see. We've had a couple different name changes, but uh, as me, Cohen, the vocalist, and Cameron, we've been a band for about three years now.

Yeah. Uh we actually had our big break at the our school talent show. Oh, cool.

I am very interested in filmmaking. Filmmaking is a huge thing for me. I love being behind the camera. Um, obviously not right now.

I have in high school. Um, a little, let's see, what have I done? I've done some work for the Orlando Art Museum with some of my buddies and a bunch of little small events and stuff like that. So, you know, just local stuff.

So, do you have any like do you have any interest of like a future of being in filmmaking or is it just more of a hobby?

More of it was more of a like a serious thing for me, but I really just kind of do it as a hobby now because like music is my life, it's always going to be my life. I don't like I don't like pho, and I couldn't give a pho if I wanted to. I truly couldn't.

So is there so you guys are still new band? You said you're planning a tour next year. Is there anything that you want to share that's upcoming?

Absolutely, yes. We have two new singles coming out before the end of 2026. They're called Witch and Heron's Eye, uh, which is a very um almost Death Cory metal court new style for us that we're trying out. Okay. Heron's Eye is very uh I think Kill Switch Engage. Oh, um I like Kill Switch. Kill Switch is fucking amazing. Yeah, it is so good. I love Kill Switch Engage. Think that. If you like Cohen's voice and you like our guitars and you love Cameron's bass and you love Ari's drumming.

That's a good question. I'm really passionate about comic books, as you can see. Oh, I love the X-Men. They're the best comic book team, best superheroes ever. I collect them and I'm, you know, I'm kind of getting into that flow of collecting all the vintage stuff, the newer stuff. So yeah, I like to read, I guess. And I mean, I'm just kind of an artist all around, so like drawing here and there, just doing whatever to get my art out of me. You know, that's that's my stress reliever.

Alright. Well, it was back at this music school, and I was, you know, I think around 16, 17, and they had this like rock lab kind of thing, and it was kind of, you know, improvise. They just pick a bunch of songs, you kind of just show up, and I play guitar. Yeah, I was still playing guitar. I play guitar the whole time. I haven't played anything else.

Drumline, the thing about the drumline music, uh, I mean movie is that there's like two different styles of drumline. There's core style, which is gonna be like more focused on like technique and like playing like hard beats and like really technical stuff. And then HBCU, which is drumline style, like the drumline movie style, which that's gonna be more like um it's very entertaining. It is, but that's that's like a show band, right? Yeah, which it's like, you know, it's meant to put on a show. That's more like for halftime shows and stuff for competitions. Okay, so you didn't do that.

But you know, as anything, the first time you're always gonna be nervous, but you know, it goes away as you get used to it.

There's changing your sound for like to be more appealing to a mass audience, yeah. And just taking opportunities when they're given to you, right? Yeah. Because if you get hit up by a big promoter or something, being like, you know, we'll pay you this much to go play this gig or whatever, and it's a great opportunity. I don't really call that like selling out, you know? Yeah, it just depends on what you mean by selling out.

Like changing your sound, um, just to like be like softer or something. But I feel like a lot of times when that comes to like with artists, a lot of it has to do with just, you know, you gotta make a living off this somehow.

Bye. All right, you guys are wild. Hello, hello. I am back here with my post-show reflections. And I don't think I've ever been around a band who is like, you know, kind of just starting out in their journey and they're so young. They are some wild boys. Um, so going through the footage, they're they're a lot of fun, um, very talented already, and I know that they're going to, you know, be even more talented in the future as they grow. So I just want to take a moment to give them some advice from like, you know, like a big sister who has spent her life in like the business world. And for any other young band members that are starting out in life, um just always, always make sure that you read any contracts. Make sure you have attorneys when you're signing. Um, like if you might be getting signed to a record label or anything, make sure you are getting like actual good attorneys. Don't let like the record label like suggest an attorney. Find your own attorney and make sure they read these contracts thoroughly. Make sure that you are signing contracts that are good for you and good for your future. Just because it might sound good now does not mean that it's going to be good for you in the future, right? Um, you can see now, like I'm seeing videos on social media of like some of our legends um, you know, that were prominent in the 60s and 70s, and they're still having to work because they had such bad contracts. Like, I think everybody knows about the hell that Motown put their artists through and other record labels like that, right? So just be careful with these contracts. You will literally sell your entire soul. You're doing all the work, all the creativity, right? You're the ones out there performing. And then the record label, because they fronted you some money to like get started, then they just like basically own everything. Like you might as well just get a loan to fund your tour and then pay the loan back. I don't I don't know if there are any banks that do those kind of things, but I don't know, maybe somebody can start like a artist collective and crowdfund tour money so that you can get out of these horrible contracts. So that's my advice today for the younger people just getting started in life. Always, always make sure that you have an attorney, review any contracts, make sure everything is in your favor. And if it doesn't always have to be 100% your favor, like I'm fine if something is equal, right? Like if somebody wants to invest their time and money in you and they're like they feel like they deserve 50%, you know, I don't know, it might not be a good deal, but 50% is a lot better than like we own everything, and like you don't even own the rights to like the music that you are performing, right? Like, don't sign contracts that allow people to take that much of your life's work, right? Um, you see like artists selling off their whole catalogs and stuff like that. So you don't want to be in those positions. So that is my advice today for the young generation that's just starting. Never sign a contract without reading it. Never sign a major contract without an attorney. And always be careful what you say when there are mics around. Not that there is anything wrong, but just saying that uh I always have to warn people that I'm mic'd up when we're having uh conversations before after the recordings. I always tell people, hey, I'm mic'd up just in case you say something that you may not want anybody else to hear. Not that I would publish anything like that, but you just never know with like hackers and stuff. You just you just never know. You never know. Everybody's not me. Everybody doesn't have, you know, live by the morals that I choose to live by, and everybody's not ethical. Some people love, you know, the the virality of rage bait. Like you can go very viral with rage bait, right? So just be careful of all of these things. That's my piece for today.
